Keith's (kkfvps) Poems

In the quiet of the night

The busy day is over

the birds have hushed their flight

I’m still awake it’s 3 a.m.

the quiet of the night

As thoughts swirl round inside my head

of people who I love

It’s then I hear a still small voice

that’s from the Lord above

Hush my precious child

all things are in my hand

you can’t see the full picture

and do not understand

Everything is in control

for I wont let you down

I have for you my precious child

a very special crown

I’ve seen your pain and suffering

I’ve seen your hurt and tears

I’ve watched and listened patiently

throughout all of these years

So go to sleep my precious child

for everything’s alright

we will meet again tomorrow

In the quiet of the night

In the valley

If you’re going through a valley

And feeling sad and blue

You really don’t know where to turn

You don’t know what to do

Just call upon sweet Jesus

Lift up His name in prayer

And even in the deepest depths

Jesus will be there

You’ll still be in the valley

The feelings won't just end

But at least while you’re down there

You’ll have with you a friend

The ladder of success

I’m climbing up the ladder,

 the ladder of success

I already have a bank account

and a posh address

I’m just purchasing my brand new car

and a new mobile phone.

I’ll soon be snug and happy

in my new ten bed roomed  home

What do I want with Jesus?

He wont get me anywhere.

I asked Him once to help me,

 He didn’t seem to care.

So I will keep on climbing

and I will do my best.

Until I get right to the top

of the ladder of success.

The years rolled by,

it wasn’t long before I burst my bubble

There were young ones on the ladder.

I was heading in for trouble.

And so I climbed much faster,

until I reached the top.

The trouble was when I got there,

 I suddenly fell off.

The spiral down was long and hard

 I lost everything I had.

It was then I turned to drink and drugs,

because I was really sad.

I never thought I’d sink this low

and end up in the street.

Then I looked down

and saw this little tract beneath my feet.

So I picked up this little booklet

and I started to read.

About Jesus Christ the Saviour

who welcomed those in need.

Well something spoke into my heart

so I asked Jesus in.

I asked Him to forgive me,

so I could be born again.

It was then I heard a voice from heaven

saying child you are forgiven

Pick yourself up dust yourself off,

you’re on your way to heaven

Although I had no money,

 or no home address.

I’m glad that I’m no longer on

The ladder of success.

Born Again

I’m now a born again Christian,

I’ve given my life to God,

My very own personal decision,

On the narrow road I have trod.

I’ve taken the first step to heaven,

Asking Jesus come into my heart,

I’m not on my own on this long narrow road,

Cause Jesus will never part.

Sometimes the road won’t be easy,

It will seem so narrow and long,

I’ll stay close to Jesus He’ll stay close to me,

That way I can’t go wrong.

I’ll make sure that I read my bible,

Daily talk to the Lord in prayer,

I’ll ask the Lord Jesus to stay by my side,

He’s listening I know He’ll be there.

He’ll guide me down the pathway,

Now that I have give Him my life,

It was the greatest decision that I’ve ever made,

Asking Jesus come into my life.

Brand new start

My old life gone, a brand new start,

Now I’ve asked Jesus in my heart.

Oh Lord why did I wait so long,

To start to sing a brand new song.

Your precious blood that bled for me,

So I could spend eternity.

Free from my guilt, my sin, my pain.

Yes I’m so glad I’m born again.

So thank You precious Saviour, friend,

You gave to me life without end.

To spend eternity with You,

Is what I really long to do.

So come Lord Jesus. I await,

To go through heavens pearly gate.

Into a land with no disdain,

No more tears, and no more pain.

Where death is conquered, sin no more.

Where there’s no needy, and no poor.

Yes heaven awaits those that are Thine,

To sing new songs, and drink new wine.

My old life gone, a brand new start.

Now I’ve asked Jesus into my heart.

Oh Lord why did I wait so long.

To start to sing this brand new song.

But No-one ever told me

You Kneel before God the Judgement is here,

You’re trembling and nervous and shaking with fear,

God says that you could have come in and been free,

You answer to God, no-one ever told me.

You remember the tract that you found in the street,

That little booklet was beneath your feet.

So you picked it up and started to read,

It was all about Jesus He’s all that you need.

But then you decided to throw it back down,

And off for your shopping you headed to town,

You saw in the shop the new dvd,

On how to be saved and how to be free.

But Jesus you couldn’t be bothered with Him,

You’d sooner have fun and live in your sin,

You never once thought about the judgement day,

So you lived how you wanted, and threw life away.

I’m not talking about life down here on the earth,

But new life, eternal, and a new birth,

You could have been forgiven of all of your sin

If you’d gave it up and asked Jesus in.

But now You Kneel before God for the Judgement is here,

You’re trembling and nervous and shaking with fear,

God says that you could have come in and been free,

You answer to God no-one ever told me.

Bible reading John Chapter 3

Don’t look at me

I’m no good I’m a sinner,

Who’s been saved by Gods grace.

I still slip and stumble

 as I run the race,

But if you’re seeking forgiveness,

and to be set free,

Then look up to Jesus,

but don’t look at me.

I can’t get you to heaven

what ever I do,

It was Jesus who hung

on that cruel cross for you,

It was Jesus who carried

your sins all away,

So don’t look at me,

but accept Him today.

Ask Jesus forgive you

come into your heart,

I know He will give you

a new and clean start,

You see I’m only a man,

but I have been set free,

So look up to Jesus,

but don’t look at me.

We stand alone before God

at that great judgement throne,

and you will be judged,

that means you on your own,

it’s only the Lord Jesus

that can set you free,

So look up to Him,

but don’t look at me.

Heavy Load.

Lord this loads too heavy,

It’s far too heavy for me.

I cannot live in a world of hate,

Filled with hypocrisy.

The load of people suffering,

With illness, hurt and fear.

I cannot carry all this load,

From people far and near.

It’s such a heavy burden,

That has been laid on me.

I cannot carry all this load

throughout eternity.

The load that I am carrying,

Its weight is killing me.

Every persons hurt and fear,

I feel is laid on me.

Lord I cannot carry on,

With this load all the time.

Then Jesus said.

The load you bare was never yours,

But mine.

I am not here, I did not die.

Do not sit at my grave and cry,

I am not here, I did not die.

I passed from this life into heaven,

For I have had my sins forgiven.

So please don’t cry, for now I’m free,

I’m with the Lord in eternity.

There’s no more tears and no more pain,

And yes one day we’ll meet again.

Heaven is a real place,

And the way here, is through Gods grace.

For Jesus died for you and me,

Ask for forgiveness, be set free.

So come and have your sins set free,

For very soon you’ll follow me,

For life on earth goes quickly by

And each of us we have to die.

Yes life on earth goes quickly by,

And each of us we have to die.

And then we face eternity,

Lost in hell, or saved and free.

I want to see you here with me,

It’s a long time, eternity.

Make sure you make it by Gods grace.

And come meet Jesus face to face.

Just ask him to forgive your sin,

And ask the Lord to enter in,

He is the potter, you are the clay.

Let Jesus show you a better way.

So please don’t sit at my grave and cry

I am not here, I did not die.

I passed from this life into heaven,

For I have had my sins forgiven.

I don’t know what the future holds

I don’t know what the future holds,

The way I cannot see,

But Jesus is my Lord and friend,

He’ll guide the way for me.

And I don’t know the trials ahead,

The joys and grief’s to bare,

But Jesus knows and loves me,

So I’ll trust His loving care.

And I don’t know how many days,

Of life on earth I’ll spend,

But Jesus knows and cares for me,

He’ll keep me to the end.

Yes Jesus knows my future,

And He’ll guide me with his hand,

With God things don’t just happen,

Everything is planned.

So as I face tomorrow,

With its problems large and small,

I’ll trust the God of miracles,

And give to him my all.

I'll do as I Like

I'll do as I like, I’ll live as I want,

I’ll be as I choose to be,

I’ll hurt who I like; I’ll lie cheat and steal,

It makes no difference to me.

I’ll be fine in life; I’ll chase all my dreams,

Get money any way I can,

If you need someone cruel to get on in life,

Then baby I’m your man.

We’ll live as we like; we'll drink till we drop,

We’ll fight, and break every law,

But we won’t get caught, because we'll be smart,

We’ll close every loophole and door.

And when we make love, we'll share it around,

We’ll sleep with a woman or man,

Wont worry of aids or any disease,

Just get as much sex as we can.

And then when we're old we've had a good time,

And lived all our life as we chose.

We fought and we drank, made love when we liked,

Our motto was anything goes.

We weren't really bad, we just followed the crowd,

We were sexually immoral oh well.

We had a great time or that’s what we thought,

So how did we end up in Hell?

I’m Good I’ll go to Heaven

I’m good I’ll go to heaven,

Is what I often say,

But I’ll be in for such a shock

When I face judgement day.

The bible it is very clear

Good works won’t get me in,

Only one way to heaven,

And that’s to be born again.

So the best thing I can do

If I want to see heaven,

Is go pick up my bible

And turn to John three, seven.

Bible Ref: John Chapter 3 Verses 6 and 7

Let me be as Jesus is

Let me walk as Jesus walked,

Bold upright and true.

Let me talk as Jesus talked,

When I speak to you.

Let me be as Jesus is,

Gentle, pure and kind.

So that when my Lord returns,

I won’t get left behind.

Let me love as Jesus loved,

Not how man loves me.

But love, how my God loves us,

Gave His Son for you and me.

Live this way the Lord has said,

And very soon you’ll see.

The Lord Jesus face to face,

And glory bound you’ll be.

Life Everlasting

That’s what you’ll receive

If you come to Jesus

And only believe

Open up your heart

And invite Him in

Make a new start

And repent of your sin

Violence and shame

Was the price that He paid

So that you could be free

And you could be saved

Everlasting life

Will be your reward

If you trust in Jesus

And except Him as Lord

One Month Left

If I had one month left on earth,

I wonder what I’d do.

I’d write my loved ones letters,

And I’d write one for you too.

I’d tell you of my Jesus,

I would want to let you know.

That He died for you and me,

Because He loves us so.

I’d tell you life is oh so short,

Think about eternity.

Are you going to spend it

Tied in chains or being free.

So this would be my letter,

Sent to you with all my love.

I’d tell you all about my God,

His Son sent from above.

Who paid the price for what you’ve done,

So you don’t need to pay.

Because He took all of your sins,

And washed them all away.

And all you have to do

If you would like a brand new start,

Is say you’re sorry for your sins,

And ask Jesus into your heart.

It’s just as easy as it sounds,

And no it’s not religion.

It’s actually Gods Guarantee,

To get you into heaven.

 Reach the Children

We have to reach the Children,

We’re losing them each day.

To a violent and unloving world,

Reach the children now I pray.

Parents are busy working,

And so leave them to roam.

They then meet up with other kids,

Where gangs become their home.

They’re being lost to knife crime,

Violence, drink and drugs,

Suicide and accidents,

And nasty vicious thugs.

So let’s go out and tell them,

That someone loves them so.

And that His name is Jesus,

Who will never let them go.

So please let’s reach the children,

And show them that we care.

For when I get to heaven,

I’d like see children there.

Bible Ref: Matthew Chapter 19 Verse 14

Safe in the arms of Jesus

Nothing can snatch me from Your hand

Because You love me so

You’re holding to me tightly

And will never let me go

To spend eternity in heaven

That’s where I long to be

Safe in the arms of Jesus

Where I’ll be truly free

So hold onto me Jesus

While I am here below

And tossed about by raging seas

Don’t ever let me go

Then one day soon I’m coming home

That’s where I long to be

Safe in the arms of Jesus

Happy, loved and free

Salvation

Salvation is costly and comes at a price.

God’s Only Son Jesus was the sacrifice.

Although you don’t want Him,

He still died for you.

And He’ll come inside if you just ask Him to.

Love was the reason He hung on the tree

And suffered in agony for you and me.

Violence and shame was the death on a cross.

But Jesus died willingly to save the lost.

Anyone can receive this gift from above.

By asking the Lord just to fill you with love.

Trust in my Saviour He won’t let you down.

He’ll take all your sin and give you a crown.

Invite my Lord Jesus into your heart.

And you can have life anew, and a new start.

On my precious Jesus you can depend.

He will stay by your side right to the end.

Now if you’ll just turn away from your sin.

You’ll have SALVATION if you ask Him in.

Second Chance

You’re standing there on judgement day

The books are open wide

Almighty God just looks at You

He’s looking right inside

You know He can see every evil thought

And deed you’ve done

And how you turned the offer down

Of Jesus Christ the Son

You’re gripped with fear you know

The judgement is not going well

It’s then you hear those dreadful words

TAKE HIM DOWN TO HELL!

Then in a moment with a scream

You wake up in your bed

You realise it’s just a dream

and you’re not really dead

The sweat is rolling down your face

You daydream in a trance

And suddenly you realise

you have a second chance

Will you accept Gods Only Son?

And make things right and well

Or will you hear those dreadful words

“TAKE HIM DOWN TO HELL”

© Keith (kkfvps) 30th June 2001.

The Answer

The only way to heaven

is through Jesus Christ the Son.

I can’t get there no other way,

Jesus is the One.

He took my sins onto the cross

and suffered in my place.

And the only way to heaven

is not by works

but through Gods grace.

Because God loves me so much,

He gave His Only Son.

So I’ll uncross my fingers,

Cause Jesus is the One.

I will just ask Him in my heart,

And He will set me free.

Then I will get to heaven,

That is His guarantee.

.The Gambler

I’ll soon be rich beyond my dreams,

I play the lottery.

Just waiting for my numbers,

As I sit near the TV.

I watch intently at the screen,

The balls roll one by one.

I’m on the edge of the settee,

Just hoping that I’ve won.

And as the last ball rolls out,

I realise I have lost.

Another day, another week,

Just think of what its cost.

I’ve lost my house, my job, my car,

And all my family.

You see I am a gambling man,

Who plays the lottery.

A friend told me of Jesus,

And how he could make me whole.

He said please ask him in your heart,

Don’t gamble with your soul.

So I did as he told me,

And now I am set free.

I’m no longer a gambler,

Who plays the lottery.

The Lost Sheep

Have you heard about the shepherd

Who tended for his sheep

But then one night one wandered off

While he was fast asleep

Early the next morning

Before the rising sun

He counted the sheep in his field

But one of them had gone

So he picked up his bag and staff

And searched until he found

The one lost sheep that wandered off

They went home safe and sound

The Lord who’s up in heaven

Who died upon the cross

Is also very keen to see

That not one sheep is lost

.The Love of Jesus

I asked Lord do You love me?

Oh yes very much He replied

I love you so much and in so many ways

Was for you that I suffered and died

I asked Dear Lord will You help me?

I’ll help you my child He replied

Just ask what you want and if it’s in my will

I’ll always be there at your side

I asked Lord will You forgive me

My wrongdoing is weighing me down?

Lay all your wrongdoing on Me the Lord said

I’ll exchange it and give you a crown

I asked Lord when will I see You?

Soon now came back the reply

The harvest is almost complete now

And you will meet Me in the sky

I asked Lord who will be with You

When we meet on that glorious day?

Whoever as asked me into their lives

And had all their sins washed away

The Old Man in the Mirror

I look in the mirror,

and what do I see.

Just a frail old man,

who looks back at me?

He still feels so youthful

inside his head

Yet this tired old man

just wants to go bed

No hair and no teeth,

his moustache all grey

Time hasn’t been kind to him

not in no way

He has aches in his bones

and he hobbles along

The skip he once had in his step

now has gone

His eyes have deep sorrow,

he has lines in his head

He really looks worn out,

perhaps he is dead

Or perhaps his reflection

 is just showing time

Then I realise that this old mans image

 is mine

How the years have just flown by

they've come and they've gone

 No-one will remember

the things I have done

Except for my Jesus

who sees what I do

And if He's watching me,

 then He's watching you

So decide where you're going

when your life here is done

Make sure you choose Jesus

for He is Gods Son

For we have one life

and it soon will be passed

and only whats done here

for Jesus will last

I pray that I see you in eternity

I hope you asked Jesus to set you free

Just think what I’m saying

 life quickly goes by

and sooner or later

we all have to die

I can’t wait for eternity,

that’s my real home

I’ll have no more tears,

no aches in my bones

For I’ll be with my Jesus

and at last I’ll be free

There’ll be no more old man

 in the mirror for me.

Time

The clock upon the wall

is ticking time away

You have to do the shopping

And there are bills you have to pay

Then you have to clean the house

And then cook all the meals

You really don’t know if you’re on

Your head or on your heels

You try to do the jobs yourself

for in no-one you trust

The bibles still left on the shelf

and its collecting dust

You haven’t got the time to read

Gods very precious word

He’s always talking to you

but you just haven’t heard

So stop just take a minute

out of your busy day

And listen to your Jesus

and what He has to say

Blow the dust from off your bible

 and take a look inside

Don’t worry about the time of day

just let the hours go by

To sink so low

As I was rowing on my boat,

There came a flash then thunder.

And suddenly I knew my boat,

Was starting to go under.

As I was sinking down below,

Down to the deepest depth.

I was gasping for some air,

And was very close to death.

I watched my whole life flashing,

Right before my eyes.

The thieving and adultery,

And lots and lots of lies.

And as I sank much lower,

And things weren’t going well.

I found myself just standing,

On the precipice of hell.

Just then all of a sudden,

I was lying on the sand.

I wondered how I’d got there,

I couldn’t understand.

It made me think about my life,

How it was full of sin.

A friend had told me of the Lord,

So I asked Jesus in.

Warning Signs

I took a shortcut

through a farmer’s field,

For it was getting late

I saw a sign “ELECTRIC FENCE”

Please use the farmer’s gate

But I was in a hurry,

and didn’t have the time

I took a chance and climbed the fence

Ignored the warning sign

Well now I’m in the hospital,

With quite a nasty burn

For I ignored the warning sign,

When will I ever learn?

Well it was time to be discharged;

I’m up on the third floor

Head for the elevator,

But there’s a sign upon the door

This elevators broken down,

You have to use the stair

I didn’t feel like walking,

all the way down there

So I forced the doors open,

and inside it was black

I fell right down the lift shaft,

And landed on my back

So now I’m in the hospital,

A broken back and burn,

Now I’ve ignored two warning signs,

When will I ever learn?

The months went by I was discharged

Although a little sore

I had to cross a busy road,

to get back to my home

I thought I am ok

and I can make it on my own

So I stepped out

ignored the crossing lights

That were on red

It was then that the car hit me

And I landed on my head

So now I’m back in hospital,

Fractured skull, bad back and burn

I’ve now ignored three warning signs,

When will I ever learn?

I finally left the hospital

and found myself a wife

I now heed all the warning signs

That I see in my life

I won’t forget my mishaps,

Fractured skull, bad back and burn

I am no longer stubborn,

and eventually did learn

Now God who’s up in heaven,

Who loves us very much?

Keeps giving us clear warnings,

When He says please don’t touch

We can ignore all of Gods signs,

And His message people tell

But then please don’t be so surprised

when you end up in hell.

When trials come

When trials come, you’re at a loss,

Just go to Jesus and the cross.

And lay your problems at His feet,

Then beat a hasty, swift retreat.

I know not any other way,

That in our trials we should pray.

Yet we just try and struggle through,

Not really knowing what to do.

We get tied down in all the strife,

As we try hard to live our life.

Here on the earth, we muddle through,

Not really knowing what to do.

Well Jesus is the answer,

To all your earthly strife.

And all you really have to do,

Is ask Him in your life.

Your trials and worries give to Him,

As you live day to day.

Give Jesus all your problems,

He’ll take them all away.

So when trials come, you’re at a loss,

Just go to Jesus and the cross.

And lay your problems at His feet,

Then beat a hasty, swift retreat.

Where are you going?

Do you know where you’re going?

When your days are all done

Did you refuse God’s gift of His Only Son

Turned your back on my Jesus

Wanted live your own way

You’re a long time in hell

And you’re heading that way

So please turn around

and make a new start

By asking the Lord Jesus

into your heart

Say you’re sorry

And be willing to turn from your sin

Then open your heart

and let Jesus come in.

Without You

It’s one in the morning

I’m lying in bed

As all of today’s thoughts

Swirl round in my head

The news on the t.v.

Tells of war and of pain

Violence and greed

and monetary gain

Stock-markets falling

people in need

Countries collapsing

Hungry mouths to feed

Oh Jesus

the worlds full of hurt, hate, and pride

And all they have to do

is ask you inside

When will they see

that without You they’re lost

And fall on their knees

and come to the cross

© Keith (kkfvps) 10th February 1999.

You Choose

The world or God

you have to choose

You cannot have the two

The narrow or the wide road

the choice is up to you

Do you give or do you take

do you love or do you hate

Do you give your life to God

or is it best to wait

Shall you go the pub tonight

and drink the night away

Will you keep on fighting

and live to see another day

Do you choose gold and jewellery

to worship and adore

Can’t you hear My Jesus,

knocking at your door

You see the door into your heart

the handle is inside

And only you can open it

and let the Lord inside

Tell me what do you choose

is it heaven is it hell

Only you can choose my friend

make your decision well.

Your Life as mine

I’m saved, You washed my sins away,

You came into my life that day.

You took my sins upon the cross,

So that I’d live and not be lost.

Jesus how I love You so,

Please don’t ever let me go.

I choose to live my life for You,

And do the things You’d have me do.

Now as I pledge my life as thine,

I take the bread and drink the wine.

Thank You Lord for loving me,

Washing my sins, setting me free.

Oh Lord I never can repay,

For all my wrong You took away.

But I will let Your glory shine,

As I now live Your life as mine.

So thank You Lord for saving me,

I am so blessed to be set free.

And one day I know we will meet,

And I will bow down at Your feet.

I’m saved, You washed my sins away,

You came into my life that day.

You took my sins upon the cross,

So that I’d live and not be lost.

PSALM 51

(adapted by kkfvps)

Lord Jesus Christ

forgive me, a sinner,

Because of your constant love

and  because of your great mercy

wipe away my sins!

Wash away all my evil

and make me clean from my sin!

I recognize my faults;

I am always conscious of my sins.

I have sinned against you

and done what is evil in your sight,

so you are right in judging me;

You are justified in condemning me.

Sincerity and truth

are what you require;

Remove my sin,

and I will be clean;

Wash me, and I will be

whiter than snow.

Close your eyes to my sins

And wipe out all my evil.

Create a pure heart in me, Lord,

And put a new and loyal spirit in me.

Do not banish me from your presence for eternity

but put your Holy Spirit within me.

Give me the joy that comes from your salvation,

And help me to be willing to obey you.

Spare your judgement on me, Lord, and save me,

and I will gladly proclaim your righteousness.

Help me Lord, and I will praise you.

Please hear my humble spirit Lord;

You will not reject a humble spirit

and a repentant heart.

Thank You LORD for saving me…Amen.
